The Seed of the Woman

by Emanuel Esh

In Genesis 3:15, God spoke to the serpent that beguiled Eve and said, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

This prophecy clearly speaks of three things concerning Jesus Christ:

  1. The perpetual hatred between Satan and his followers, and Jesus Christ and His followers.
  2. That Satan will bruise the heel of the foot that steps on his head.
  3. That when Christ steps on Satan, He will crush his power.

Creation of the
Earth and Mankind

In Genesis 1 we read how God created the heaven and the earth. God also made the first man and the first woman. He made them in His own image. This means that man is made or formed in the likeness of God. Even as a man has arms, legs, eyes, ears and a mouth, so does God.

God formed man out of the dust of the ground. God then breathed into the nose of the man the breath of life, and the man became alive. Another meaning for the word breath is spirit. So, when God breathed His breath into the man, the man became a living soul. The Spirit of God now lived inside of the man. God named the man Adam. Adam was now a physical being on a physical earth. Adam was also a spiritual being. It was by this means that he communicated with God, because God is a spiritual being. He began to breathe and to walk. He could also talk with God through the Spirit of God who lived in his spirit.

The First Sin

Satan, also called the devil, hates God and the image of God, which is man. Satan saw that man obeyed, honored and worshiped God. Satan desired that man would be subject to himself. Satan spoke to the woman through the serpent and deceived her into disobeying God by eating of the forbidden tree. Adam also ate of the fruit, and thus SIN entered into the world; and by SIN came DEATH. Adam and Eve through this sin gave their allegiance to Satan. They now became servants to Satan instead of servants to God. Satan now ruled over man and all of man’s dominion, by means of Death, which is for the animals, birds, fish and all the life on the earth.

Death is the
Punishment for Sin

God hates sin, and sin must be punished. Every sin that a man commits will be punished. But what is the punishment for sin? The punishment for SIN is DEATH, or BLOOD. The soul that sins must die. Yes, the wages of sin is death. The life is in the blood. The soul that sins must pay for his sin with his death. First, there is spiritual death, then comes physical death of the body, and then eternal death of the soul. Eternal death is everlasting torment in the lake of fire, severed from the presence of the Lord.

Adam and Eve experienced spiritual death immediately. They no longer could have fellowship with God as before. Now they were afraid of God. God was no longer their Friend; God was now their Judge. Their physical bodies were now subject to death also, and they eventually did die and were buried in the ground out of which they were taken.

Death came upon all men. No one is exempt. All men must die. No one can win the battle against death by his or her own strength. No one can overcome death by doing good or by church membership, baptism or communion. No one can ever do enough good to outweigh even one sin, because sin simply cannot be paid for with good works. Only by DEATH can sin be paid for. And Sin will be paid for with DEATH.

The Seed of
the Woman

God also cursed Adam with hard labor in earning a living, while the woman was cursed with hard labor in childbirth and subjection to the man. The serpent and his seed were cursed with enmity with the woman’s Seed for all generations. He was to crawl on the ground, and the Seed of the woman would step on his head, and be bitten. This is a prophecy of One to come who would deliver mankind out of the bondage of Satan, Sin and Death, and restore the relationship of man back to God.

The Seed of Sin

Sin is like a seed. The fruit of Sin that comes forth in humans is called sins. One seed brings forth many seeds. One sin brings forth many sins. This seed of sin is present in every human body today. This makes all humans that are born of an earthly father and mother SINNERS. If you are a human, then you have the seed of sin in your body, and it will bring forth sins. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin, all of their descendants are called sinners. I was born a sinner because my father was a sinner, and his father was a sinner, all the way back to Adam. If Adam and Eve had had children before they sinned, then those children would not have been born sinners.

Like Begets Like

If you plant corn seeds, corn will grow. If you plant an apple seed, an apple tree will grow. You never get beans from corn seed, or apples from orange trees. Like begets like. Dogs beget dogs; cats beget cats, and so on. Humans beget humans, and sinners beget sinners.

Now that I am born of sin, my nature is to sin. My nature is to do evil all my days. The nature of sin within me causes me to commit many sins, such as lying, stealing, cheating, fornication, adultery, envy, jealousy, covetousness, and pride. These are only a few of the fruits that the seed of sin within me brings forth in my life.

No one needs to teach a small child how to be bad. It is his nature to be bad and selfish. In training a child to be obedient, you are going directly against his nature, which is to do evil.

The Seed of Man

Now when a man passes his seed to a woman, he is passing on his own likeness to the woman. In this seed is life or blood. The blood comes from the father. The seed then is implanted in the womb of the woman. The woman in due time gives birth to a child that has the image of the father and mother. We call this wonderful process “the first birth”, or “born of the flesh.” The child also has the nature of his father, which is SIN. The child inherits his sinful nature (sinful blood) from the father and not from the mother, because the seed is from the father. We have ten children, ages 2 to 21, and every one of them got their sinful nature, not from their mother, but from me, the FATHER.

The Seed of Woman

Now let us look at the Seed of woman. We know that a woman does not have seed of herself. The seed comes from the father and not from the mother. This statement about the “SEED OF THE WOMAN” indicates that the One to bruise the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15) would not be of the seed of the man. This is a very important truth. The seed of man, or all of mankind, is ruled by Satan and held by him through the power of Death. If man can overcome Death, then man has overcome Satan. But no sinful man can overcome Death on his own, because Death is stronger than man.

The Virgin Birth

The Virgin Birth simply means that a virgin gave birth to a Child. A virgin is a woman who has never lain with a man. How then could a woman give birth to a child if no man has ever passed his seed to her? In Luke 1 and 2 we can read the story of the Virgin Birth of Christ.

This virgin named Mary did not receive seed of a man by having lain with a man, but became pregnant by the Holy Ghost, through faith in the word of the Lord given by the angel Gabriel. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God the Father in heaven. Mary received Seed from God, who as a Father, is able to bring forth spiritual Seed, which was placed into her womb. This Seed was not of the corruptible seed of man, but of incorruptible Seed, by the word of God. This Seed, this life, this blood, was righteous, holy and pure. Even though Jesus Christ was born of a woman, He was not born a sinner, because the seed comes from the father and not from the mother.

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Genesis 3:15 prophecy of the Seed of the woman. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is at enmity with Satan continually—God’s Seed against Satan’s seed.

Jesus Christ is the One who stepped on Satan’s head and crushed it, which means that he broke his power and means of ruling over man (death).

Jesus Christ was bruised or bitten by the Serpent when Christ crushed his head. Even if you step on a serpent’s head, it can still bite you. Satan caused Jesus Christ to be put to death on the cross, thinking that if Jesus would die, then he would be able to hold Jesus captive through death, as he did all other men.

But Jesus Christ, being the Son (Seed) of God, was stronger than death, and death could not hold him. God raised Jesus Christ up from death and the grave, and made Him to be the victor over death.

By His sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus tasted death for all men and opened the way for mankind to be freed from the power of sin and death. He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world, carried them to the cross, and died in the place of sinful man. There He paid the penalty for the sin of all mankind. He shed His holy blood for the sins of men.

It is the blood of Jesus Christ that is able to take away the stain and the guilt of sin in our lives. Instead of each sinner paying for his sin with his own blood or death, any sinner can now, through faith, claim the blood of Jesus Christ as atonement for his own sin.

Born of the Seed of God

Mankind, or sinners in the sight of a Holy God, cannot please God. This is because they have only been born once of the flesh, of the seed of sinful man. But sinful man now has a glorious opportunity to be born again through the second birth by the Seed of God, which is a spiritual birth.

Jesus Christ said in John 3 that unless a man is born again of the Spirit of God, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. If a man is born again by the Spirit of God, he will receive the nature of God; he will be born of the Seed of God, and he will be a changed person. He will not need to try to be good, but will be good, because he is of a good Seed.

My earthly father’s name is Esh. I was born an Esh. I did not need to try to be an Esh. Even if I did not feel like an Esh, I was still an Esh. Even if I did not act like an Esh, I was still an Esh. I was born a sinner; I acted like a sinner. I did not need to try to be a sinner. I was 100% a sinner; not one part of me was good. Even if I thought that I was a good person, I was still a sinner.

Only when I agreed with God’s Word and realized that I was truly a sinner—lost and worthy of death, without hope, and destined for eternal punishment—then and only then did I truly see my need of a Savior, and could be born again of the Seed of God, which is Jesus Christ. Through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, I acknowledged my sinfulness and believed on Jesus to the saving of my soul. Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Picture an apple tree. This tree will always bring forth apples. It brings forth apples because the seed from which the tree sprang forth was an apple seed. It will never bring forth any other kind of fruit.

We will now liken this tree to a sinner. Picture this tree with the fruit of sin on it. This tree brings forth only the fruit of sin. It cannot bring forth any other fruit but sins. Because the seed is SIN, the fruits will also be SIN. Yes or no?

Many think that they can bring forth good fruit from a sinful tree, but God says it is impossible. As sinners, even all of our good works are an abomination to God. Look at the seed at the root of the tree. Only when we repent of our sinfulness and of the seed of sin—which is our nature—only then can we receive the Seed of God, which is Christ.

Even as God the Father gave Seed to a virgin woman and she gave birth to a Child, so likewise God the Father can put his Seed (Christ) into our hearts. God can actually change the seed of the sinful tree (man) and put the holy Seed from Himself into the roots of the tree (or the heart of man), and the tree will bring forth the fruit of holiness unto the Lord. The nature of a person can be totally changed. Instead of bringing forth sins, after the nature of the earthly father, it will bring forth fruit of the Heavenly Father.

Being born again means being born of a new nature, a new Seed. This new birth affects every area of a man’s life. You will not need to try to be a Christian; you will be one. You will be born a Christian. You will have the fruits of a Christian.

This is the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Without the SEED OF GOD (Christ), no man will enter into the kingdom of God. The “Christian life” is an empty sham without this new life in Christ. Many seek to enter, but are unable.

Dear Reader: Do not settle for anything less than the reality of a new birth through the SEED OF GOD. If you do not know if you are born of God, you should not rest until you make your calling and election sure. God wants you to know that you are in Christ. ?

“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” (John 14:20).

“These thing have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).
