Introducing
SENT 2007
For the past 10 years, we had been sending
six-week youth teams to Ghana with the purpose of “getting their
feet wet” in foreign missions. While these teams were very fulfilled
in their singing and preaching exercises in the schools, it left them
somewhat void of the practical realities of mission life. The mission
board along with the missionaries felt a great need for more extensive
training to further prepare these youth for the future. Getting their
feet wet is good, but they really need to “learn to swim”.
Out of this burden was born SENT (Serving
Every Nation Training) School. This twelve-week school held in Ghana
would enable them to learn many hands on realities in the daily grind
of mission life. The first SENT team of twenty has returned. Their changed
lives give testimony to the power of God’s grace to mold and prepare
youth for the challenge of mission life.
Daniel Kenaston, the SENT school administrator,
with Jeremy Wollman as his right hand man, did an excellent job with
the twenty youth who undoubtedly were outside their comfort zone. The
disciplines of the living space, strange food and culture, along with
a rigid schedule, generously afforded each student much opportunity
to practice self-denial.
A sincere “Thank You” to all
the missionaries for their labors in serving the SENT Team 2007!
We are planning another term for October
through December 2008.
